Here's to Turning 34

Today is my birthday and I am so blessed to have such great family and friends that took the time to wish me a happy birthday. Some called and sang, some texted, some sent messages on facebook and some brought over gifts. I really feel loved and I appreciate it so much!!!

I went to work for a bit and then went visiting teaching and then to Steph's house for lunch with Norma, Jennifer, Janean, Carrie and of course Steph. We had spaghetti and homemade french bread (that was so delicious) and then apple pie with ice cream!! Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to make me feel so special!

Me and the kids then met Rich at Olive Garden in Provo for dinner. He had balloons on my chair and of course that embarrassed Alexa.

Well, we did cause quite a scene during the course of the meal. Alex let out a huge burp (I guess he forgot we were in public) and then couldn't stop giggling, Max asked the waitress for a plate of "foutons" he meant croutons, then he was reaching for something and spilled them all over the table, then Rich was being suspicious and kept "going to the bathroom" he bought an ice cream pie from Baskin Robins so the waitress brought it out with candles and they sang to me, I couldn't think of a wish so it took me a few minutes before I could blow them out, I pulled out the camera for a few photos, but to top it all off Max pooped in his pants. He said he didn't know it was coming, so Rich took him in the bathroom and threw away his unders so he rode home bare fresca!!!

All in all it was a great birthday and I really hope my wish comes true!!!

DIRTY DASH 10k

This is what Rich and I did this morning, I think the photos speak for themselves!

The pictures you just saw came from the disposable camera that I stored in my cleavage while we were running and doing all the muddy obstacles...

The following photos are from the race photographer, FLO-FOTO.
This was the FUNNEST race I have been in, it was a great bonding time between Rich and I and I wish my whole family would have been there. This spring they are doing a 5k version of this race and I highly recommend it to everyone!!!

Homemade Apple Sauce

I thought I would make some applesauce for Rich on his birthday because he has been LOVING applesauce lately. I got a recipe from a friend and she said it was really easy and she was right!!!
I have never made applesauce before but it was so fast and all you need is apples, cinnamon and sugar. I love the way it made my house smell like fall!!

***The reason it is so dark is because I used the tablespoon instead of the teaspoon when I measured the cinnamon so it was WAY TOO cinnamony...I am just going to make another batch with NO cinnamon and mix them together and then I think it will be perfect!!!

4H Art

Today Alex started his Art class for 4H after school, he made this awesome rock guy and I think it is so fun!!
Alex is such a creative boy, I can't wait to see all the projects he will come home with in the coming weeks!

Rich's Bday

Today is Rich's 37th birthday and he started a NEW JOB!!! He is working for Morinda Agriculture (owners of Tahitian Noni, where he used to work). He was so excited to start this job and what a great birthday present!! He is only temporary for right now but it looks like he will hopefully get hired on permanent in a few months.
I wanted to take him to lunch to celebrate both his birthday and his new job! We met at Noodles and Company where he had a FREE birthday meal! It was yummy and he told me all about his first day on the job!
I asked him what he wanted for dinner and he chose crepes. I had just made peaches and cream and thought peach crepes would be delicious...they were actually incredibly delicious!! Then we went to Cold Stone for his FREE birthday ice cream!

(Rich and I celebrated his birthday on Saturday by going to Tucano's for his FREE birthday dinner and then we saw The Girl, The Goat and The Grouch at Hale Center Theater).

5th Grade Field Trip

I walked with the 5th graders to the Spanish Fork Cemetery to see the Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall Memorial. It is a half size replica of the wall in Washington D.C. I have seen this memorial twice and thought it would be fun to see the replica and spend time with Alex.
There are 58,253 names on this wall and it is a beautiful monument.
Here is most the wall in the background, it was so sunny that most of my photos didn't turn out great! It was a great day to be outside and the kids were very respectful and curious about the wall and what it represents.
We spent about 30 minutes there and we even had a question and answer with a "vet" before we left the cemetery, the kids asked him some great questions and he gave them some good information about what it was like to be in the Vietnam War and especially how they were received coming home.

Spanish Fork worked really hard to get the wall here and I think it is great to be able to bring historical things like that to the city so the young kids have an opportunity to learn more about their country.
